Requirements for Eighth Grade Students

Eighth grade students are required to complete and earn credit for the four core academic courses:  Math 3, Language Arts 3, Science 3, and United States History.  In addition to these courses, students are also required to complete a Physical Education course.  If necessary, Reading is also offered to students. Career Education is also offered in the eighth grade and is usually taught through the Physical Education or the Reading class.  Here at Freeport Middle School, we also offer Advanced Math (Algebra I), Advanced Language Arts, Advanced Science, and Advanced United States History.  It is ultimately the determination of the Guidance Counselor, Ms. Benner, for a student's placement in advanced academics based on grades, discipline history, and FSA scores.
