Mrs. Sherrell Cheatham



Mrs. Cheatham graduated from UWF in 1992. She began her educational pathway in 1994 as a teacher’s aide at West Defuniak Elementary. Then, she started teaching in January of 1996. Mrs. Cheatham has been married to her high school sweetheart since August 1974. Her hobbies include, crafting, camping in her RV and spending time with her family. Mrs. Cheatham is our Digitial Lead Teacher at Freeport Middle School.

Nichole Fairchild

Intensive Reading 


Ms. Fairchild graduated in 2005 from Milton High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelors in Social Psychology in 2014 from Park University with honors. Ms. Fairchild is currently enrolled in a graduate program, Clinical Mental Health, at Troy University.

Ms. Fairchild started teaching in 2014 in Santa Rosa county as an ESE Resource teacher. In 2015, she took a hiatus to tend to her twin boys. She then returned to teach 9th grade English and English honors as well as the reading class at Freeport High School. Ms. Fairchild is our Intensive Reading teacher.

Ms. Fairchild enjoys dirt bikes, four wheelers and anything outdoors. She also loves to do crafts and likes to read. Ms. Fairchild has four active children, Bethany (12), Jakeob (6), and her “twinkies”, Jeremiah and Jenkins (1).

A quote that Ms. Fairchild finds inspirational is, "Children must be taught how to think, not what to think" by Margaret Mead.

Ms. Fairchild co-sponsors the DAB reading club, co-sponsors Student Council, and is the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach.

Mr. Michael Miller

Beginning Band & Advanced Band


Mr. Miller is the band director at Freeport Middle School.  Freeport Middle School is proud and honored to have a wonderful Band department.  We offer Beginning and Advanced Band at the middle school level. Mrs. Joan White

Media Specialist, Critical Thinking, & Media Production


Ms. White was born in Samson, Alabama, and has lived in this area all of her life.  She is a graduate of Florala High School.  After completing her B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Ms. White returned to her home town of Florala to work as librarian at Florala High School.   While there, she took a year’s leave of absence and completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Media (K-12) at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.  She has worked at Freeport Middle School for the past eight years.
