Freeport Middle School Dress Code Guidelines
We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to our dress code, designed to maintain a positive and focused learning environment for everyone. Here’s a summary of our guidelines:
Acceptable Attire:
Pants, Jeans, and Slacks: Should be long and extend below the knee.
Capris: Must be worn below the knee.
Skirts and Dresses: Should reach at least the knee.
Shorts: Should be no more than 5 inches above the knee.
Shirts: Options include crew neck T-shirts, polo shirts, and button-up shirts. All shirts must have sleeves and cover the midriff. Please avoid V-neck shirts and zipper-front shirts. When layering, ensure the top layer meets the shirt criteria.
Footwear and Accessories:
Shoes: Must be worn at all times for safety and comfort.
Sunglasses, Hats, and Sun Protection: Welcome to wear outside the school building for sun protection.
Guidelines for Items:
Garments with Holes: Should not expose skin higher than 5 inches above the knee.
Pants: Should be worn at the waist for a neat appearance.
Footwear: Please choose shoes without wheels, cleats, or bedroom slippers.
Hats: Hats are a fun accessory, but please keep them off inside the school building.
Gang-Indicative Clothing: We support a welcoming environment, so please avoid items that suggest gang affiliation.
Messages on Clothing: We encourage positive expressions, so please avoid clothing with inappropriate, racist, or illegal messages.
Pajamas: While cozy, pajamas (pants or tops) are best left for home.
Leggings, Spandex, or Tights: Must be paired with an outer garment that extends to palm length, covering both front and back.
