On Friday, Hayden Arnold competed at the State FFA Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration contest in Gainesville. For this contest, participants develop and present a 7- to 10-minute presentation about various areas of the ornamental horticulture industry. The presentation demonstrates careful planning, thorough knowledge, and the student's ability to explain the "how and why" of various horticulture practices. Hayden demonstrated how to make a boot floral arrangement with various types of flowers. After a morning full of competition, Hayden placed 8th in the state! We are super proud of Hayden's accomplishment. Congratulations, Hayden! ๐

Congratulations to these WHS athletes for earning awards at tonight's FCA 360 Athlete Champions of Character ceremony! ๐ This annual event is dedicated to recognizing outstanding athletes from Okaloosa & Walton Counties that exemplify leadership, sportsmanship, and character on & off the field.

Yesterday, Walton High School hosted its first track meet in over four years, and our student athletes performed spectacularly!

On Saturday, three FFA members attended the GCA & NYRO Rabbit show in Molino, Florida. Rhylie Upton, Lacey Reeves, and Chloe Bendure competed in rabbit showmanship. For showmanship, exhibitors have to know specific facts about the animal they're showing, including breed characteristics, signs of disease, and treatment of pests and diseases. Rhylie placed 1st in showmanship, and Lacey earned 3rd place! ๐ One of our rabbits won best in breed, and another won best opposite! ๐ฐ
Our FFA members did an outstanding job at the show and represented our chapter well. Congratulations Rhylie, Lacey, and Chloe!

The Walton High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) is pleased to announce the selection and promotion of the cadet corps leadership team for the 2025-26 school year! Congratulations to Cadet Colonel Ed O'Daniels for his selection for the position of Cadet Corps Commander and promotion to grade of Cadet Colonel and to Cadet Lieutenant Hayden Carroll for his selection for the position of Cadet Corps Vice Commander. These outstanding leaders have shown they're ready for bigger challenges and will enhance the corps during their tenures next school year.

Hayden Arnold competed in the District 1 FFA Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration contest this morning. His project was a cowboy boot floral arrangement. For the demonstration, he had to show a panel of judges how to prepare and arrange flowers for a bouquet and demonstrate his knowledge about floral arrangements and flowers. Hayden placed 1st in his category, so he will advance to the state contest in April.
Congratulations, Hayden! We're so proud of you! ๐

We'd like to give a shout-out to the students that participated in the Math Bowl at Northwest Florida State College last Friday (March 7)! Based on a 1.5-hour, 45-question exam and a head-to-head competition, Walton High School earned a 2nd place trophy!
The head-to-head competition pitted two WHS students against two students from other schools. Students were given two minutes to solve a problem. Twenty points were earned if the correct answer was submitted in less than one minute, and 10 points were earned if the correct answer was submitted in less than two minutes. After a round of ten questions, we sent in our second pair of mathletes.
NWFSC provided breakfast, and Mr. Brown treated the students to a well-deserved lunch at Zaxby's. Montanna Pickard won a TI-84 graphing calculator, and six students won individual trophies based on their test scores.

Our Symphonic Band traveled to Arnold High School on March 7 to perform at the Annual Music Performance Assessment. These students stole the show and earned straight superior ratings from all three stage judges; a superior in Sight Reading; and a superior for our Student Conductor, Mr. Gabe Rowbotham. Every student on stage last night received the equivalent of a perfect score from the judges! This was a monumental performance for our students, and we are beyond proud! ๐ถ

Walton High School proudly launched its first-ever SeaPerch program this year, giving students the opportunity to design, build, and compete with underwater robots!
Today, two of our teams represented WHS at FSUโs Regional SeaPerch competition. They competed against 24 other teams across the Florida panhandle and made a huge splash! ๐ฆ
Brave Mariners (Logan Evans & Deagan Devlin) placed 3rd in the Technical Report and 3rd in the Obstacle Course, and Brave Waves (Alivia Howle & Sean Stegall) showcased incredible teamwork and engineering skills! ๐
We're so proud of our students for their hard work, dedication, and problem-solving abilities. This is just the beginning for SeaPerch at Walton High School. Big things are ahead!
Way to go, Braves!

Our yearbook students had the opportunity to tour and learn about how they can use their skills in the media and communications program at the University of South Alabama. Students can become photographers, journalists, and more inside the JAG media programs regardless of their academic major! They ended the day with some fun at the USS Alabama to celebrate (nearly) completing the 2025 yearbook.

Congratulations to Mrs. Tiffany McKinney for being selected as Teacher Of The Month for February! ๐ She organizes our attendance initiatives; works closely with our seniors; and is always willing to jump in and help. We are beyond blessed to have her as a part of our Braves Family! ๐
