📚🗳️ Learning Civics in Action! 🗳️📚 Our Civics class at Freeport Middle School has been diving into the world of elections and the Electoral College! Students are learning about the importance of voting, how the Electoral College works, and its role in U.S. presidential elections. Today, they put this knowledge to the test with a hands-on Electoral College Simulation activity! Through this engaging experience, our students are gaining a real-world understanding of the election process and how every vote counts. We're so proud of our Bulldogs as they grow into informed, active citizens! #FMSBulldogs

We’re excited to showcase the latest addition to our PE department: Crossnet Volleyball! This unique combination of four-square and volleyball has brought a new level of energy and competition to our program, and our students are absolutely loving it! Crossnet offers a fresh, engaging way for everyone to get involved, building both teamwork and agility. #FMSBulldogs

This hands-on experiment allowed students to see firsthand how different surfaces can slow objects down. With a phenomenal 93% pass rate on the 2024 Civics EOC, she’s proven just how powerful her approach to teaching can be! Her classroom is a place where learning comes alive—students are constantly engaged, excited, and eager to tackle new concepts, all thanks to her unique, hands-on methods. But Ms. Infinger’s impact goes far beyond academics. She is also the inspiring coach for our Lady Bulldogs Volleyball team, a supportive mentor to students, and a tireless volunteer for our school’s activities. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines, helping students reach their personal best, or championing a positive school culture, Ms. Infinger truly embodies what it means to be a model teacher. 📚 Exploring History Through Literature and Culture! 📚 After finishing their class novel The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez, Ms. Johnson's 7th grade ELA students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the social and historical context of the story. Set against the backdrop of the Communist Revolution in Cuba, the novel follows two siblings who become part of Project Pedro Pan, a mission to evacuate children from Cuba to America. As part of their final AVID One Pager project, students explored the physical, historical, and social settings of the book. To enhance their understanding—and to bring a bit of Cuban culture to life—they enjoyed traditional flan, “gusanos” (gummy worms symbolizing the anti-revolutionary term), and yuca flour avocado chips. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect more deeply with the novel’s themes while having some fun with cultural exploration. We are so proud of our students for diving into literature with curiosity and creativity! #FMSBulldogs
